Signing Up, Logging In, & Logging Out

How do I sign up?
You can join the site by going to the Registration Page. Or, you can click on the green button in the upper-right hand corner of the site. It will prompt you to log in. Instead, click on the "Register" tab. Lastly, you can click the green "Submit" button in the sidebar and you will prompted to log in before submitting a link. There's a registration tab there as well that can be used to join the site. You will be emailed a password that you'll have to enter to finish the process.

How do I log in?
You can log in via the Login popup. You can get there by clicking on the green login button in the upper-right hand corner of the site that's visible when you're NOT already logged in. Or, you can click the green "Submit" button in the sidebar and you will prompted to log in before submitting a link.

How do I log out?
To log out you can click on the "Log Out" link that appears in the Admin Bar at the very top of the site after you've logged in.

How do I change my password
To change your password visit the "Admin Area" here.

What if I forget my password?
You can have your password reset by clicking the "Forgot Password?" link on the Login Page. Or by visiting this Forgot Password Page.

Sharing Links

How do I submit a link?
To share a link, click on the large green button in the sidebar labeled "Submit". If you're logged in, a form will pop up where you can enter the link and information about it. If you're not logged in, you'll be prompted to log in or register.

What are some tips on submitting links?
First, check out the site and make sure no one else has published the same link or a very similar story. Then, give the link at least a two or three sentence description so people will know what it's about.

Can I submit links to my own site?
Sure. The purpose of Theme Park Hype is to share any interesting theme park-related stories, articles, images, videos etc. If you have something that you think other's may want to check out, feel free to submit it, even if it's yours.

How is moderation done and what are the site's guidelines?
I intend keep the site in the G to PG range. So profanity and basically anything you wouldn't want a 12 year-old seeing is off limits. This is part of the reason that submissions will be moderated or viewed by an administrator before they are approved.

Voting

How do I vote on links?
To vote on something that you like or find interesting, simply hover over the number to the left of the entry. The words below the number will change from "RIDES" to "RIDE IT". Click on it and it will then be displayed as "RODE IT". You've now voted for that entry.

Social Profiles 

What are these Hype Pages?
The Hype Pages are your very own on-site profiles. Once you've logged in, you'll see a link in the Admin Bar at the very top of the page called "My Hype Page". Once you're there, you'll be able to upload your own avatar or profile pic, add information like your home park and favorite roller coasters, friend other members and leave messages for them. Depending on how they work out, additional features may be added to the Hype Pages in the future.

How do add a profile photo?
Click on "My Hype Page" after you've logged in to the site. It'll be in the Admin bar at the very top of the page. Once you're on your Hype Page, click on "Profile Photo" in the list of links on the left. There, you'll be able to upload a profile photo.

How do I get the link (URL) for my Hype Page?
Once you login, click on "My Hype Page" in the Admin Bar at the very top of the page. Then, just grab the URL from the address bar. You can use this URL in your "Web Site" box in the Admin Area so that your name will be linked to your Hype Page when you leave a comment. You can also use this URL anywhere else on the Web to point back to your profile.

Points & The Games 

What are My Points?
By clicking on "My Points" in the Admin Bar at the very top of the page (which only appears if you're logged in), you will visit your points page. There, you'll see how many points you've accumulated based on your activity on the site. Hype Points will eventually be used for weekly and monthly games where you can win prizes like theme park tickets and other gear. They are currently being tallied, but do not count towards anything. They will be reset before the games begin.
